Maribel Paguican, head of the Business Bureau, revealed in a radio interview on Wednesday morning, January 3, 2024, that the number of applicants paralleled that of the previous year, 2023.

They got a total of 2,284 applications on the first day of the activity, January 2, 2024.

“So wala mi nag-expect nga ing ato ka daghan ang mag-renew dayon and although that is gamay, short of our performance last year kay January 3 ta nagsugod last year (We did not anticipate such a large number of individuals renewing their mayor's permit, and although it falls slightly below our performance from last year because we started the process on January 3),” she said.

She ascribed the large number of applicants to people who were not completely prepared to submit their permits because the activity began just a day after New Year's.

The current number was just slightly lower than the 2,479 applicants on January 3, 2023.

The Bureau designated several locations to accommodate applicants, including the Gaisano Grand Citigate for Buhangin District residents, the Sangguniang Panlungsod for Poblacion District residents, the Almendras Gym for Agdao and Talomo District residents, the Toril District Office for Toril residents, the Calinan Gym for Calinan District residents, the Baguio District Treasury Office for Marilog, and other locations in Paquibato and Bunawan.

Paguican stated that office hours had been extended to Monday through Saturday. Furthermore, the last Sunday of January was set aside for individuals seeking rebirth, with Sangguniang Panlungsod and Almendras Gym open until 10 p.m. on the last day of the year, January 31. The mall would remain open until 8 p.m.
