In an interview with the city-owned radio station, PSSO head Angel Sumagaysay disclosed that fiber optic lines are being constructed to enable the expansion of the city's CCTV network. Priority regions for new installations have been designated with approval from the Mayor's Office of Davao City.

"Davao City is increasing, hereafter, we must use it as a tool to improve its security and safeguard our safety, such as in the event of flooding or traffic," he stated."

Currently, roughly 200 CCTV cameras are functioning around the city. This development is also part of Davao City's ambition of becoming a "smart city," in which new technology, such as CCTV cameras, are integrated into local government to improve efficiency, safety, and general quality of life.
