Maxim Rides & Food Delivery has begun offering car rides in Butuan City, adding to the delivery services it already runs there, according to Mindanao Times.

Passengers can book a 4-seater car with a base fare of PHP 65 or a 6-seater car with a base fare of PHP 75. Both options use air-conditioned vehicles. The company said fares are shown once pickup and destination points are entered and do not change because of traffic.

Reynante Santos, head of Maxim Butuan, said the new rates give residents "more flexibility in choosing a car service that suits their travel needs." He added that the company also wants to create earning opportunities for local driver-partners. Vehicle owners who join the platform pay commissions of 5 to 18 percent and can set their own working hours, the company said.

Maxim said its app shows driver and vehicle details, the trip route and the vehicle's location on a map. Drivers and passengers can message each other without sharing phone numbers, and both can use an SOS button to reach the company's support team.

The company holds a Transportation Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) license and already offers car rides in Davao, Cebu, Manila, Tagbilaran, Tacloban, Iloilo, Iligan, General Santos, Cagayan de Oro, Ormoc and Bacolod. The company describes Butuan as a gateway to tourist destinations in Mindanao.

Why it matters for Davao

Maxim already runs car rides in Davao, so the Butuan launch is mainly relevant to Davaoeños who travel to or do business in Butuan.
