About
Davao City's community newsroom
DavaoNews brings the day's Davao City news together in one place, alongside cinema schedules, events and a directory of local services. Readers can comment, submit citizen reports and earn community points for helping stories reach more people.
Who we are
DavaoNews is part of the eCorp network of online ventures. It was designed and built by our technology partner Zipsite Solutions, a boutique development company building websites and apps since 2003.
Editorial policy
Where stories come from. We follow local publishers and public agencies through their public news feeds. Each story on DavaoNews names the original publisher and links to their full report.
How articles are written. The DavaoNews desk writes an original article for each story, with the help of an AI writing assistant (Claude, by Anthropic). The assistant may only use facts from the original report: it does not add names, numbers or quotes of its own, and it attributes claims to their source. Every AI-assisted article is labelled as such.
Crime and courts. People accused of crimes are described as suspects until proven guilty. We do not name minors or survivors of sexual violence.
Citizen reports. Reader submissions are reviewed by an editor before publication and are clearly marked as citizen reports.
Corrections. If you spot an error, comment on the story or contact us, and we will correct it promptly. If you are a publisher and want your feed handled differently, contact us and we will act on it.
Sources we follow
Google News results also bring in reports from other national and regional outlets, each credited by name.
Advertising
Advertising keeps DavaoNews free. Ads are always labelled and never influence what we cover. Advertise with us.
