The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) recorded no security incidents during this year's All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day observance, according to SunStar.

The DCPO, led by Police Colonel Peter Bauzon Madria, said 174,807 people visited cemeteries in the city during Undas 2026. A total of 1,924 personnel and community volunteers were deployed to cemeteries and other public areas.

The deployment included 556 Philippine National Police personnel and 136 augmentation personnel from Task Force Davao, the Philippine Coast Guard and the Bureau of Fire Protection. It also included 1,232 members of community advocacy groups.

Police said personnel handled police visibility, crowd management, traffic assistance and security monitoring in and around cemeteries. The work was coordinated with the city government, partner agencies and the city's safety and security cluster.

Before the observance, the DCPO inspected deployment areas and reviewed crowd-control measures and cemetery entry points. It also used a 90:10 deployment scheme, which assigned 90 percent of police personnel to field operations and kept 10 percent on station duties.

The arrangements followed the city's yearly Undas security measures. In 2025, the DCPO deployed 1,192 police officers and police auxiliaries to secure 53 cemeteries and nearby areas from October 30 to November 3.

Madria credited the result to police personnel, augmentation units, partner agencies, advocacy groups and the public's cooperation. "The incident-free observance reflects the importance of operational readiness, inter-agency collaboration, and strong community partnership in ensuring public safety," he said.

The DCPO said the outcome showed the value of continued security preparations and inter-agency coordination in handling the yearly surge of cemetery visitors during Undas.

Why it matters for Davao

The report shows that Davao City's yearly Undas security setup kept the city's cemeteries free of reported incidents despite heavy crowds. The police credited this partly to cooperation from residents.
