CTOO officer-in-charge Jennifer Romero stated that they intend to resume additional face-to-face events that were discontinued during the epidemic, such as the Habi Kadayawan and Kadayawan Dragon Boat Festival.
The list of new events, however, has not yet been finalized because they are awaiting permission from the City Budget Office.
We are still awaiting figures for our [City] Budget Office, but one thing is certain: we are gearing up for the preparation [of the Kadayawan festival]& mas early atong preparation at least maplantsa siya (we have prepared early so that we can iron things out early as well), Romero said in a media interview on June 5, 2023.
Aside from the aforementioned two activities, Romero stated that they intend to add a Kasikas Kadayawan event at the end of the festival.
It's a variety performance with songs, dancing, and more musicality for Kadayawan, she explained.
According to the official, the city began preparing for the annual event with its stakeholders on June 1 and will continue every Thursday until August 10, when the celebration will begin.
Ang (The) focus of our office is that we want to level up all events and activities, so we need to make sure that everything is well prepared so that everything goes as planned, Romero added.
Kadayawan, known as the "King of Festivals" in the country, will celebrate its second year in person after the outbreak. The celebrations take place every third week of August and emphasize the 11th century.
