The new Online Building-Related Permit System (OBPS), according to OCBO officer-in-charge Khashayar Toghyani, will improve government operations for Dabawenyos by improving government service through modernisation.

Building permit applications will be easier to submit, track, evaluate, and approve, making them more accessible. No more drawn-out lines, and most importantly, no more red tape, stressed architect Toghyani.

The second part of their digitalization, which is scheduled to be finished in the coming weeks and will handle occupancy and stand-alone permits, he said, is focused on managing building permit applications and is merely the first stage.

"Digitalization and the automation of some operations are the only ways to get rid of some of the pointless documentation. According to Toghyani, it will not only benefit the applicants but also reduce the workload of our staff members who handle jobs like keeping an eye on the building's safety and dealing with complaints from building officials.

He claimed that authenticating and verifying the documents provided online is a component of the ONPS.

If it is notarized and signed by an expert, the associated land titles will be considered authentic. We will continue to demand them to present the hard copy of their paperwork even after the documents have been uploaded and authorized," he continued.

Toghyani also advised business associates to rigorously abide by the National Building Code's requirements for smooth transactions.

Meanwhile, Mayor Sebastian Duterte expressed his happiness that the OBPS is finally functioning after more than a year of planning.

He urged the office to keep taking walk-in clients who want to submit their documentation through in-person transactions, nonetheless.
