“I clarified that Davao Light and Power Company has not increased in its distribution rate, however, the rate na makita karon these are charges on generation and transmission charges,” said Fermin Edillon, reputation enhancement department head of DLPC on Wednesday.

He stated that this is due to the crisis in Ukraine and Russia, which is impacting the price of petroleum products.

“Kani are heavily affected tungod sa panghitabo sa Ukraine-Russia crisis. Because of that, nagsaka ang mga panaliton because nagsaka ang prices sa mga petroleum products. Sa amoang part wala mi nagsaka except sa generation and transmission charges,” he said.

Edillon stated that the generation rate kilowatt per hour has been at P11 since June, up from P10 the previous month before the Ukraine-Russia crisis.

“Tan-awon nimo ang pagsaka sa mga kuryente dili lang DLPC ang affected ani. I guess tanan utility companies are affected. Naay instances last year na nagsaka ang coal especially na majority sa mga base loads sa mga planta nato diri ang main source sa fuel is coal,” he said.

The Upper House recently passed House Bill (HB) 10554 (Committee Report No. 609), or an act, on second reading, expanding the franchise area of DLPC of the AboitizPower subsidiary to include Tagum City, the Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos), Asuncion, Kapalong, New Corella, San Isidro, and Talaingod in Davao del Norte.

Northern Davao Electric Cooperative currently serves these areas (Nordeco).
