On Friday, October 6, 2023, JIU-JITSU athlete Annie Ramirez delivered the Philippines its third gold medal at the ongoing 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

 

Ramirez defeated Kazakhstan's Galina Duvanova 2-0 in the women's under 57kg final match.

Following teammate Margarita Ochoa's gold medal victory on October 5, her path to gold began in the Round of 16 with a win by advantage over Le Thi Thuong of Vietnam.

Ramirez then defeated Singapore's Fiona Toh 7-0 in the quarterfinals.

In their semifinal round, the former Asian champion extended her excellent run with a submission victory over Shamsa Alameri of the United Arab Emirates.
