El Niño is projected to last from March to May, with a 74% possibility. According to Vinalay, El Niño has decreased and will shift to an ENSO neutral condition.

ENSO, which is neither La Niña nor El Niño, is predicted to occur between April and July of this year, with an 83% likelihood.

Vinalay revealed that the actual rainfall received by the Davao Region since March 31, 2024 is significantly lower than typical.

"According to our rainfall estimate, the Davao Region will receive 78 percent less rain in March. From April to September, rainfall is expected to be approximately normal in the Davao Region.

Vinalay said, most parts of the Davao Region may experience near-normal rainfall in June, with the provinces of Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, and Davao Oriental forecasting near-normal rainfall in July, and Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, and Davao Occidental forecasting above-normal rainfall.

"Until September magkakaroon na tayo ng pag-ulan because papasok na itong La Niña then at ma terminate na ang dry season," Vinalay told the news agency.
