"We are in the process of procuring these trolleys. We are aware that there is now a shortage of trolleys, but we are also considering the potential of receiving donations of these vehicles from private organizations," Bautista stated on Tuesday in a media interview in Davao.

Rex A. Obcena, an official of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines-Davao (CAAP-Davao), said in January of this year that DIA has 156 push carts in its inventory, 46 of which were provided by Gaisano Mall.

Obcena also mentioned that the airport now need 700 baggage carts.

According to Bautista, the Davao airport is still undergoing renovations.

"We had a lot of problems throughout the bidding process for the terminal building. We're going to rebid," he declared.

The CAAP will continue to pursue the upgrading of the Davao airport this year, as affirmed by Maria Lourdes Lim, director of the National Economic and Development Authority 11 (NEDA 11), last month.

According to Lim, this will be accomplished by completing the construction of a parallel taxiway, installing taxiway lighting, performing restoration work, resurfacing the runway, correcting the strip grade, developing the new terminal area's site, building an apron, and building the vehicle parking area and access road on the taxiway.
