The residential power rate of Davao Light has seen a slight rise of P0.1379/kWh this April. It has increased from P8.9975/kWh last March to P9.1354/kWh this month, resulting in an overall increase of P27.58 for an average monthly consumption of 200 kWh.

In a statement released on Tuesday, April 16, the electric power company explained that the increase in power rates is due to higher prices in the Philippine Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) in Mindanao.

In light of this announcement, Davao Light underscored the importance of expected monthly adjustments to power rates and encouraged consumers to prioritize energy conservation.

The utility company reiterated that market prices are subject to change, leading to fluctuations in power rates on a monthly basis. While these rates are beyond consumers' control, Davao Light emphasized that customers can still manage their electricity bills by being mindful of their consumption habits. The company advised customers to monitor and control their energy usage in order to avoid high power bills.

Previously, Davao Light had lowered its rates from P9.2570 in February to P8.9975/kWh in March, resulting in an overall decrease of P0.2595/kWh.
