This comes after the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) declared that in order to maintain peace and order throughout the period, their organization would step up patrols and security.
The Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) chief of the city, Angel Sumagaysay, stated that the PSSO has already worked with other law enforcement and security organizations, especially Task Force Davao, to implement the "one entrance, one exit" policy, which includes frisking at places of worship.
This also relates to the terrorist attack that occurred on December 2 inside the Dimaporo Gymnasium of the Mindanao State University in Marawi (MSU-Marawi), which left at least four persons dead and more than fifty injured, including ministry personnel.
Captain Hazel Tuazon, a spokesperson for the DCPO, guaranteed the security of each and every churchgoer during an AFP-PNP press conference earlier this month.
She did, however, stress the importance of following the established procedure in order to prevent fines and infractions.
"We have prepared all of the staff members for this occasion and deployed them to ensure that the kalinaw is ready to go." We are only asking that people heed the laws and policies. Our police forces have been preparing for this event and many troops will be deployed for it to ensure that peace remains. Hangyo lang unta nga maminaw ta sa mga patakaran ug polisiya," the official stated.
Additionally, she reaffirmed that additional police officers from every Davao City police station would reinforce security in busy places, particularly during the Pasko Fiesta in 2023.
