However, as of Friday, July 1, a positivity rate of 3% was calculated from 12 new confirmed cases, leading Schlosser to believe that the weekly average may have increased slightly.

“We will wait for the consolidation for this week’s cases so we will be able to give you the updated positivity rate, but we are expecting it will increase because the cases are increasing,” Schlosser said.

According to task force data, 65 cases were recorded between June 19 and June 25, with 50 of them vaccinated, seven unvaccinated, and eight still being validated.

During this time, an average of five to ten positive cases are recorded from approximately 300 to 800 RT-PCR swab test specimens. This implies that the city continues to test despite the low number of positive cases.

“We’re still swabbing people, especially those close contact of people with symptoms, and also those kahit wala’y (who are not) close contact pero naa’y (but has) manifestation of Covid-19 related symptoms,” she Schlosser said.

In the event that Covid-19 continues to rise, Schlosser said the city government is prepared to handle the situation.

The spokesperson added that the teleconsultation of three Covid-19 Cluster Clinics is already operational, and two additional temporary treatment and monitoring facilities in Paquibato and Marilog are underway.

“Kung monaghan gyod og maayo ang cases (If the cases will increase even more), what we did before, we rented hotels to accommodate our patients... It is important to also know na permitted na ang home quarantine (that home quarantine is now permitted) with or without surge,” she said.
