“Mas daghan ang outpatients karon kumpara sa admission. Since July 21, 2022 naa na ta’y discharges sa mga hospitals, mapadayon lang unta nato ni,” he said over Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) on Saturday.
Lopez reported that based on the incident report as of July 22,2022, the number of cases reached 231 wherein three deaths were recorded: a 10-year-old boy, a 67-year-old, and a 32-year-old male teacher. Out of 231, active cases are 70 wherein 60 are admitted at the wards of the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) and private hospitals in Toril while there are 93 outpatients and seven patients still being verified.
He also stated that the number of affected barangays has not changed and that there have been no reports of new barangays affected by diarrhea outside of Toril.
The total number of barangays affected is still 21, with 18 from Toril and three from elsewhere. One case in Alambre, five cases in Bangkas Heights, one in Baracatan, 14 in Bato, six in Binugao, three in Camansi, two in Catigan, 34 in Crossing Bayabas, 47 Daliao, two in Daliaon Plantation, three in Eden, 34 in Lizada, 37 in Lubogan, three in Marapangi, five in Mulig, five in Sirawan, 38 in Toril Proper, two in Tungkalan
Outside of Toril, the barangays of Bago Aplaya, Baliok, and Dumoy have also recorded diarrhea cases but they got the disease from Toril.
Three evaluations are being conducted to determine the source of infections namely water analysis, food sampling, and rectal swabbing. These evaluations are being conducted by the Davao City Water District (DCWD), CHO, and the Department of Health (DOH) Epidemiologic Bureau from Manila.
“As of this time we cannot reveal any partial or preliminary results as investigation is still ongoing,” Lopez said.
Meanwhile, a total of 400 Toril vendors completed the Food Handling Seminar at the Toril Gym on July 21, 2022. The fecalysis and rectal swabbing of the vendors was also successfully conducted.
“Well-oriented ang mga vendors nakasabot sila sa sitwasyon nato karon,” Lopez said.
Lopez added that the vendors cannot operate yet until further notice.
