The regional director of DOT-Davao, Tanya Rabat-Tan, expressed optimism that the organization will meet its annual goal of 2.8 million tourists. By June 2023, there had already been 1.8 million visitors to the area.

At a press conference on September 5, Rabat-Tan said, "We might really hit our tourism arrival target by the end of this year, and hopefully by next year we can reach ang pre-pandemic."

According to her, only 3% of tourists arriving during the first half of 2023 were from outside the country. The majority of these tourists came to the area for its beaches and MICE tourism (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions).

Additionally, she pointed out a 65 percent rise in visitors compared to the same period last year.

In order to reach this goal, Rabat-Tan stressed the significance of creating cost-effective and secure tourist attractions while advertising the area as a safe travel destination.

Furthermore, the tourism industry is expected to have a successful year, according to the National Economic and Development Authority-Davao Region (Neda-Davao).

"Late last year, we also relaunched the Davao Region as an investment-ready and tourism-ready region, so we expect that with that relaunching, we can further boost our industry and services sector, which includes the tourism sector," Neda-Davao chief economic development specialist Rosendo Aya-ay said at a press conference on the 2022 Economic Performance of Davao Region on April 27 at the Pinnacle Hotel and Suites Davao.

The declaration of insurgency-freedom in the area in October 2022 is one element that will contribute to the anticipated boom in tourism.
