Col. Darren Comia, head of TF-Davao, stated in an interview with SunStar Davao on April 17, 2023, "We immediately directed all our border control points to intensify security checks sa lahat ng pumapasok ng Davao City, tao, bagay na dala-dala nila (to all people going inside Davao City, either people, things they have brought)."

“Including mga sasakyan, ‘yong bus, and public utility van (vehicles whether bus and public utility van),” he added.

The Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) and sea ports, among other important and confluence places within the city, are where he claimed they have also stationed personnel for visibility patrols.

To avert potentially harmful situations in the city, Comia said, "We are in effect on high alert to at least ma-prevent natin ang mga hindi kanais-nais na pangyayari dito sa Davao City."

Angel Sumagaysay, director of the Davao City Public protection and Security Office, claimed in a separate interview that the office has already worked with the city's security clusters to guarantee the protection of Dabawenyos.

Nothing to worry about; (our) security is in place, Sumagaysay stated.

He continued by saying that the Davao Defense System (DDS) has also been put into use by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).

Dabawenyos were informed by Sumagaysay that the DCOTT serves as the only location for loading and unloading. He continued by advising people to exercise caution and alert the authorities to any suspicious individuals or actions.

Local news sources claim that on April 17, a bus stopped at the public terminal in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, was bombed, injuring seven people. According to reports, a double-decker bus was bombed inside with an improvised explosive device, according to the preliminary inquiry by Police Regional Office Region 12.
