VICE President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio took the oath of office as the Philippines' 15th vice president on Sunday, June 19, 2022. Her parents, outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte, and Elizabeth Zimmerman accompanied Duterte.
The ceremony, which will take place on June 19, 2022 at San Pedro Square in Davao City, will be the first of its kind in Mindanao. The Vice President-elect will take office on June 30, 2022. Duterte-Carpio is President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s running mate. The pair received over 31 million votes in the May 9 general election.
The presidential daughter, who is also the mayor of Davao City, defeated eight other candidates for the vice presidency, the country's second highest elective office.
