Davao City COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser bared this on Wednesday, March 9, during the COVID-19 Alert program over 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR).
“That will be a three-day campaign. Just like the other Bayanihan Bakunahan Parts 1, 2, and 3, we will be opening all our vaccination hubs,” she said.
The target population groups that will be catered to are the pediatric 12 to 17 years old and the adult population needing their second doses, missed doses, or booster shots that will be administered via walk-in. First doses are also available.
Dr. Schlosser said, “We are pushing forward in increasing our booster doses in all categories both adults and pediatric population 12 and above. Gina-target pud nato, although technically more than 100 percent naman ta sa atoang target population sa atong senior citizens, katong mga wala pa gyud nabakunahan na senior citizens (We also target, although technically we have reached over 100 percent in our target population of our senior citizens, those seniors who have not yet been vaccinated).”
In the Vaccination Cluster report as of March 4, 2022, Davao City is currently at 86.20 percent (1,308,819) for first doses and 84.19 percent (1,278,322) for second doses of the city’s 80 percent of the total population (1,518,288).
However, of the city’s 1,278,322 fully vaccinated individuals, only 16.80 percent or 214,765 have received their booster jabs.
She underscored that a booster shot gives an added layer of protection against the severity of the COVID-19 disease.
Dr. Schlosser added that the city currently has a sufficient allocation of different brands of vaccines for the 12 to 17 pediatric population age group and adult population. This means that anybody can get vaccinated in any of the operational vaccination sites that can be found on https://www.facebook.com/davaocitygov/posts/5224849367566543.
