MANILA, Philippines — Two earthquakes, which struck some three hours apart, jolted parts of Davao Occidental and nearby areas early Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The first earthquake had a magnitude of 5.7 and struck 109 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental at 2:29 a.m.
The tectonic quake had a 120-kilometer depth of focus.
The following are the reported intensities from the quake:
Intensity III – Tupi, South Cotabato
Intensity II – General Santos City; Davao City
Aftershocks are expected.
The second quake, which had a magnitude of 5.2, struck 115 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental at 5:13 a.m
It was likewise tectonic in origin and had a 69-kilometer depth of focus.
It was felt at Intensity II in General Santos City.
