THE Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) in Davao Region reported employment rate in the region in 2015 has increased as compared to the previous year.

Dole-Davao director lawyer Joffrey Suyao said the region posted an employment rate of 94.5 percent in 2015 which is higher as compared to 2014's 94.4 percent.

He said the increase in employment rate can be attributed to the efforts of the local government and the concerned agencies here in Davao Region.

Suyao said the unemployment rate went down from 5.6 percent in 2014 to 5.5 in 2015, while underemployment recorded 14.8 percent in 2015 which is lower than 2014's 19.1 percent.

"Having a low unemployment rate only means that Davao Region was able to provide jobs where applicants can work either full-time or part-time to meet their needs," Suyao said.

As of January 2016, the Dole-Davao has recorded the employment rate in the region at 94.9 percent, unemployment at 5.1 and underemployment at 20.1 percent.
