American boxer Floyd Mayweather made a surprise visit to the city and met with Special Assistant to the President Christopher Go at a hotel here early Friday.

No details of the 2 a.m. meeting had been provided but Go is also a known boxing fan aside from his passion for basketball.

Mayweather was with former Ilocos Sur governor Luis Chavit Singson, a close ally and adviser to Senator Manny Pacquiao.

Mayweather arrived in Manila on Tuesday for what was described as a trip aimed at embracing his Filipino fans.

In a media interview in Manila, Mayweather said he was in the country to recruit Filipino fighters for his stable.

Mayweather was also set to meet Pacquiao in General Santos City.
